One of the biggest and most important consolation of moving to a quieter and much more laid back lifestyle (not that I am complaining) is about the food. If you are ever in JB, please drop by this shopping mall called Angsana and just situated at your right side (if you are looking at the mall from the open car park), try look for this famous Mee Rebus called, Haji Wahid Mee Rebus.
Each bowl is around RM3.50 but the portion is just nice for a snack or even to fill the tummy. But I never had one bowl. Always had at least two! If you request to add more "crispy keropok", I am sure one can have more than one bowl!!! Awesomeness rite?
The place is highly crowded and it is much adviseable to bring a friend or two, just to book seats while one take order from the counter. Beware, hot plates and extra temptation of like OtakOtak that can add a few more calories into a decent meal

Must do today - Subway! Revision! Gym!
After a whole day of procrastination, I've finally decided to head to the library again. Apparently, that is the only place I can effectively revise without distraction or finding excuses. So the plan for the day will be

I think Thursday has been replaced to roasted chicken ... if I not mistaken la ...
- Go to Library and complete one topic exercise
- Head to subway at pyramid to get the special for the day.
- Then to gym
- Go back to library for revising past revision
- Head home for dinner

Food from Beijing
FOOD
Spoiler ahead. Food pics. Food post. Food review
I am back from the capital of China. As you guys may have already known, I had an awesome time over there. One of the highlights of my trip is of course the food I have. Although Beijing is not famous for the dishes, MC did a good job to keep the meals fresh, new and in many ways entertaining ... except the time he tried to be funny on street food.
MC also wanted me to rank the places that he took me to, apparently he feels that I am kinda fussy and must sort'ta recommend certain places should anyone plans to visit the city. To be honest, I think Da Dong is one of the most pleasant experience. I literally do not eat duck but MC talks me into being a big fan of Peking Quack. To drag me to the dark side, it was no other than the famous wooden roasted duck at Da Dong.

Me at Da Dong restaurants. Had the place twice since I had an orgasmic experience there.

Cant remember the name of this dish, but its like chili oil with peanut sauce with chicken. You can actually taste the peanut lo. Incredible I tell you!

Famous chicken dish with almond slices. Must have when there. It taste abit like Kong Po Chicken but without the spicy tangy chilis. Apparently a famous local dish

This dish is particularly new to me. Its like ginko dates with tofu and egg. It looks like some dessert, but its actually a main dish. Think of soup. Thick soup. Very filling ...

Healthy rice. It looks black ... but in actual fact, it is purple. Some kinda grains la. But they fried it with salted fish which is yummy! Not to mention that the rice has a very nice texture

Peking Duck condiments, with the ABSOLUTELY YUMMY DUCK. The skin is crispy and duck taste is very nicely roasted. They actually show you how they do it at the entrance of the restaurant. Then a live presentation of slicing it into thin pieces. A dish I didn't knew I would fall in love with.
That said, I think Little Sheep which sells hot pot soup is quite fun too. The service is top notch and super friendly. You order it like the local steamboat but their highlight is of course the yin yang soup as below, which is infused with strong herbal taste! The compliment to the soup of course is the variety of vegs, meats and things you can throw into it.
The interesting thing is of course is the sheep meat you can eat. LOL. Ok, it is the lamb you can order. The sesame sauce also kinda heightens the taste. One new thing I found is that they actually give you the raw meat where you have to roll them yourself into balls to be put into the soup. I had a good laugh doing it.

I did not bought an apron, nor it was part of my wardrobe. Most of the patrons were given it to substitute napkins. But I look cute in it, so I actually wanted to take one home. Of course, MC talk me out of it. Haha
One piece of advise, never dip vegs into the red hot soup unless you are up for some real fear factor challenge of handling breathing, taste and hot scalding oil in your mouth. Smoke gets in your eyes!
Then of course, there are the average food that we had. I cannot continue to specifically blog them cos I am already having my saliva dripping down the side of my lips. So, here's a brief :

Cha Jiang Mien!

This is what I call grass. Only cows eat em. MC humoured me with this dish, thou we finish it.

Pork slices that you wrap with onion and wanton skin. Superly greasy

Chives pancake. One of my favourite ~ kinda overkill thou. It is as big as a small size pizza. So better count your heads before ordering it

Onions with lamb. Super greasy too.

Honey candies. One of my favourite snack while watching CNN

Crispy pan fried "Da Long Pao". Self named. LOL. Careful of squirting soup

and their sweet and sour ribs are ... heavenly! You can get them anywhere!
To end the post. We also had a trial on fine dining in Beijing and for once, everyone was nicely dressed, speak pleasantly well english and had dining etiquette. We were at this place call : Maison Boulud.

The price are seriously not absurd and with the portion, it is actually value for money. Still, prepare to spend about RMB600 for a 3 course meal. Mind you, must be in formal too :-)
Overall, they have quite proper food and restaurants, except some are pretty run down. Avoid street food cos apparently, south east asia and west asia is different in that sense. Do bear in mind that Beijingers eat proper meals, so don't expect supper or any like small stalls selling food in the middle of the night. I had problems with that cos I was always hungry, mouth itchy, lips itchy, tongue itchy ... whatever you put it. But I have a reason to it ... cold weather, boy needs energy!

So yah, try all the food. Be adventurous. But avoid : "CLICK ON PIC TO READ THE LABELS!"

and sea horse which I had no heart to take the pics... skewered !!!
In conclusion, food are typically greasy. North bound states. So bring some charcoal pills or even pack up constipation meds if necessary. Do visit their grocery store or supermarket and enjoy the variety of milk (ie; red date, black sesame, green bean, red bean and my favourite barley flavoured)....
Hungry already ... :-D

The Monday Night out
Was with MK around the corner hanging out again. That sweet lil boy read my blog and also brought me to this place that serves delicious, affordable gelato called:

Patisfrance which is located in Taipan is a bakery-gelato stall-cafe style restaurant located just next to Maybank. To be exact, it is directly opposite Old Town Signature. The family place is rated superbly clean with recognition from MPSJ as well, earning 3 stars for their ratings ... whatever that meant.
Anyway, the gelato cost around RM5.90 for two scoops which taste really cool. But the best thinge to have there is actually pastries! There are tons and tons of em! Which is why I bought like 4 apple filled doughnuts, double choc chiffon cake, black sesame cake and green tea raisins bun. YUMMY!
Then as soon as we were about to leave, MK and I bumped into Gogo and Keke. The duo who I have not seen for ages! So we decided to walked across the street, head to Old Town Signature and chat. Our chat session soon went on to become one of the most dramatic night ever with the agenda of discussion - politics
After numerous complains, grunts about the new STUPID WHITE ELEPHANT 100 MENARA thinge, discomfort on the fact that the government is driving Msia into bankruptcy and how our governors are just monkeys without brains ... we all went home with a sore-heart that our government is pathetically ignorant about the people's real need and wants, despise the rich they already own like raw materials, agriculture, talents and brain ... along with many achievements!
and yet ... they choose the latter. If only they know that manipulation of the benefit and advantage of the country to get more money is more acceptable in the people's eye. Well ... I guess they would never know ... or care
Since I am one of the people and next generation to actually live in Malaysia, I will do my best in the next election. I am sure with tons of proof and government cases ... my decisions are easy

Remembering my Magnum, Mcflurry and Haagen Daaz surprise
I have to work tomorrow. I have to work on a weekend. I have to work on Sunday, my only weekend of the week since I have classes on Saturday. Life sucks big time!
But I am quite simple and easy to be happy. Some people just don't understand that sometimes ... all I need is just action. Just the act of it sweeps me off my feet ... or make me a lil boy ... just like when I was stressed up in Spore ... like this
Lil boy buying ice-cream

Lil Boy custom make ice cream

Lil Boy pick the best dressings

Lil Boy paid hefty price for happiness

How come I always have to make myself feel good ... where is the other person that was suppose to do it at my most down and vulnerable time? Fuck the manual book for giving people expectations and hope. Fuck it all!
Lemongrassboy is just bitter now ...

And so I am
The funny thing about first time meeting acquittance is that you are always very excited to see how friendship can grow out from introductions and sharing latest news. In the past, I had my bad encounters and equally very good ones too. The bad probably gets vaporized through time but the good ones, grows into great companionship that I will treasure.
My lately encounter with this particular pragmatic person was an eye opener as well as quite a heart ache. Although it was not that bad, a particular sensitive conversation that was brought onto the dinner table threw me off guard.
I was intentionally informed that I am sissified. A simply way of saying that I am sissy. Basically he questioned that I was not animated because I apparently am more dramatic and "rich" in my facial expression and body language. I know I have my "kung fu" moments, rolling eyes and so ... and that is because I was bred in art.
It's not that I feel bitter about it, but I am thinking that probably my demeanor was more accepted when I was younger and when you enter the workforce - such "richness" should be suppressed? An expectations or judgemental trait that I absolutely despised. So being a pragmatic zombie is more qualified to be "straighacting"?
I can't help but feel very insulted. I think to define and tag a person with that word is quite rude, impolite and seriously lack of vocabs, which reflects a person being judgmental, unemphatic and seriously in for a tight bitch slap. Although I absolutely hate it when people call me by names, I may let it pass if it is from a dear friend who had gone through damn fucking a lot with me. So, coming from others, I tend to be very obscenely silent. When I am silent, bad-negative thing is happening.
Perhaps being in a almost 7 years relationship had made me comfortable in my skin. So I guess that's what will happen if you are thrown out into the world. The encounter of course ended with "call me ya, we should go for more drinks!" and a reluctant smile was returned. Dramatically infused, richly faked.
A fact I have to accept, I probably will ignore his future invitations and flush out our encounter, no future for friendship to grow. But one things for sure will stay, his remarks.
On the opposite note, I really had lotsa fun eating at this place:

Dessert therapy ... hehe ... @ Iluma

Woke up in the morning ...
... and realize that today is the first day where all (OK! some, majority) of our Muslim friends are going on the annual fast. Ramadan period is here again and with fasting month, the going-home jam starts earlier, the muslim skips lunch, they finish work earlier, the drinking and snacking at workplace has to be more discreet and I look forward for another year of feasting at their food bazaar. Unfortunately because I do not have a MOHD at the front of my surname, I do not think my boss will pardon me to leave work earlier and scout for food at the Ramadan bazaar.
Do you know that you find rare items in the bazaar? To me rare la cos my mum doens't cook malay food... Those like;
Sotong Bakar
Ayam Percik
Roti John
Roti Jala dengan kari kambing
Murtabak
Jagung Pangang
and
Cendol Bandung!
and
many more!
Oh! Can't wait to try the Ikea's buka puasa thinge also ... since I missed it last year and also to spend time with my malay buddies to buka puasa. Can't wait to eat Kurma too! NAK PERGI BAZAAR!!! *stomps feet repeatedly
I really really want to just go off and spend money there! But at present moment, it seems quite impossible. Unless it is a Sunday where there are tons of people, but compared to weekdays with less people --- sigh my hands are tied! and so I shall await the day some prince come by and sweep me off my feet, riding his white horse together-gether and galloping away to the bazaar where we will use our dimes and purchase authentic local malay food, feeding each other till the sun set .... Haha
I can sense this

coming straight to my face! Hehe ... well, Selamat Berpuasa kawan rakan sahabat sekalian!

Seng Kee review
I can't be bothered. Just wanna upload some pictures of this nice place I've dine in for the past nights. The famous Seng Kee located in Petaling Street has one of the nicest noodle you can get under one roof. Caution, they are not healthy and open till late, and definitely a bit pricy in comparison with other similar dining places. A dish basically ranges around RM8-RM12, and comes in different sizes (S, M & L)

Must order - Claypot Loo See Fun

Wantan Noodle with Roast pork
You can find the stall while turning left at the traffic light, Kota Raya just as soon as you see Nandos and Watson. Drive along the road, pass 7 eleven on your left and the Petaling street on your right and somewhere between there and the road curving to the right, the restaurant is there. Parking available which ranges around RM5. Drinks is nothing big deal and the restaurant does have shelter from rain.
Shall leave it as it is

Rakuzen Empire Subang Review - Mum Bday - 大姐 NEWS!
Before flying off to Singapore for work later in the evening, I would really like to quickly blog about my mum's bday and also a happy news. Let's start with the latter!
My beloved 大姐 have accepted the engagement proposal from her 5 years BF. Amazingly, I know certain couples who exceeded that period and still have no courage to move on and build a life together. Of course I am talking in terms of the general perception and definition of relationship from public. Either way, I deeply believe in mum's saying ... being together is all about being together at the end. To my ever lovely sister ... I wish you togethership till the end and make sure your fiance treat you to a fantastic honeymoon! Hehe
Talking about mum, a bunch of her children, god son and soon-to-be son-in-law if my sister accept the hand of the guy (long story cut short) ... had a great birthday dinner @ Rakuzen Empire Subang. I am also going to review the place for their food ... to continue the legacy of lemongrasswheat (the legacy of an eat-eat blog of two hungry Malaysians)

K leading the order with mum

Mummy's beautiful daughters.

The family party!

Mum and Dad

Family portrait

Mum blowing the candle after making her wish

Mum cutting the Orange cheese cake from RT Pastry

Sister giving mum a peck on the cheek.

Thanks everyone for celebrating mum's bday!
Time for the Review.
Rakuzen @ Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya
Tel : (Forgot, got the handphone number from another Rakuzen)

Spider Roll Maki - RM28 (sedap, tapi Sushi Zanmai lebih bagus yo!)

California Temaki Handroll - RM8
Softshell Crab Temaki Handroll - RM 8

Chicken Sukiyaki - RM 30 (recommended -make sure you drink it hot!)

NabeUdon Set - RM 38 (their set is quite affordable and worth the money!)

Gindara Teriyaki (codfish) - RM 28 (mahalnya! Tapi memang sedap sangat!!!)

Cha Soba - RM 18 (smooth cold noodle, but the soy sauce lack in taste, quite blunt)

Tempura Mori - RM 26 (good variety, again ... bad sauce)

Kimuchi Nabe - RM30 (Damn, I love this! Look out for hidden treasures if you are into seafood)

Stamine Roll - RM28 (tak cuba, I don't really like Unagi)

Dragon Roll - RM 28 (very nice! Crunchy and the portion is wonderful!)

Caterpillar Roll - RM22 (not bad, the avocado is fresh and the fillings suit the taste)

C.Salmon Maki and Kaki Fry Maki - RM16 each. CSalmon ... cannot beat the one served at Ichiban Boshi. Should have more flakes outside. KakiFry Maki ... nothing big deal. Ok la

Agedashi Tofu - RM24 (RM6 for one piece of tofu, erm ... not worth the money. Nothing to shout about)
Overall, the food is quite pricey, in comparison with their other sister company all under the same umbrella (Zen Sushi and Sushi Zanmai). In terms of food quality, I would recommend people to try as their ambience and service is commendable. The servings are quite nice, bigger portion compared to many sushi outlets and I would recommend their series of special sushi rolls for any takers. The cute and funny names alike of Caterpillar Roll, Stamina Roll and etc ... does live up to their name.

Going home and took a pic from the mirror reflection at the escalator in Empire.
